Bringing Imagination to Life: Our Manchester School Library Tree Installation 🌿

Creating immersive environments is what we do best at Unity Gifts—and our recent project for a school in Manchester was exactly that. The brief was simple but exciting: transform a standard classroom into a magical, nature-inspired space that sparks imagination, creativity, and storytelling.

What followed was a full design-and-build project featuring a large sculptural tree for a library reading area and an integrated themed bookcase reading nook—a complete immersive school library design brought to life.

The Concept

The school wanted a space where children could feel transported—somewhere between a woodland, a storybook, and a calm reading zone. We developed a concept centred around:

• A bespoke library tree structure as the focal point

• A custom built reading nook with integrated bookcase

• Hanging foliage and cloud features to soften the ceiling grid

• A cohesive, nature-inspired colour palette

This wasn’t just decoration—it was about creating an engaging learning environment that encourages reading and imagination.

The Tree Build 🌳

At the heart of the project is a large indoor tree installation for a school library, designed to feel organic while being robust enough for everyday use.

Key features:

• Sculpted root system flowing into the space—ideal for a storytelling environment

• A faceted finish using mixed tones to create a bespoke sculptural tree aesthetic

• Integrated artificial foliage and trailing vines for a woodland feel

• Suspended cloud elements to enhance depth and soften the ceiling
